CHICAGOLAND: After SchoolPrograms AfterSchoolChicago.org is a searchable website that integrates program offerings from all of the Out Of School Time Project Partners. Users can search programs by type, provider and hours of operation, or simply ‑find out what’s available in their neighborhood. After School Matters (ASM) offers you hands-on career experience and job training. Take part in arts, sports, technology, communications, and science programs. Learn a new skill, work with experts, earn a stipend, and have fun. Chicago Police and Firefighter Training Academy (CPFTA) Chicago Police and Firefighter Training Academy (CPFTA) is a 2-year after school program that allows you to train at the Chicago Police and FireAcademies for a future career in law, public safety, fire science and more while earning school credit. Gallery 37 provides high school juniors/seniors who show exceptional talent and interest in the arts rigorous instruction and career guidance in an inspiring setting, the Gallery 37 Center for the Arts. To supplement classroom learning, students also benefit from master classes, field trips, public art exhibitions, and a showcase of their visual, performing, and culinary arts. Representatives from top colleges actively recruit graduates of the program. Each course is taught by a collaborative team consisting of a Chicago Public Schools teacher paired with a professional artist from our partner organizations. In the past five years, over 900 juniors/seniors from 40 schools have taken classes in Fine Arts, Culinary, Arts and Technology and Performance Arts. The Practical Nursing Program is an honors level citywide Health Sciences program for 11th and 12th graders that provides you with the education and training required to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). The program trains you to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to become successful in the nursing field. Supplemental Educational Services Supplemental Educational Services (SES) – a component of the NCLB Title I Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) that provides additional academic instruction, specifically reading, math and science, outside of the regular school day to increase academic achievement of low-income students in eligible schools.
